Archived band shots in excessive amounts can be found on our flickr page, the best photo storing/sharing site that I’ve seen.

Full UK tour news
It looks like May is the month! I’ve mapped out the basics, and Dave and I will be hitting England for 14 shows May ’06. Dates haven’t been finalized, but cities are pretty set; London, Brighton, Oxford, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, and Leeds. We’ll likely be doing one show in Paris, and adding in whatever else we can, whenever we can. It is on and cracking.

Pod cast
I’m going to be doing a pod cast interview and what not w/ Leslie Winer on her blog. Interview or music I don’t know. Keep you post-izzled.

mastering
It looks like I’ve found my mastering guy, ducats must be saved

Daylani Rollich passed away this past Monday morning at 2am, after a long  battle w/ cancer. She fought furiously, and was beautiful and inspirational every step of the way. Visit www.beautifuldayfoundation.org, a foundation and web site she created w/ her husband and my good friend Christiaan to raise money and educate for cancer research on women under 35. I went to her funeral today, and it was wonderful to see so many people there to remember  her and celebrate her life.

CD mixing
The full HEATH! CD has been mixed. Finished it out w/ Lynne Earls at the Jungle Room in Glendale. My goal was a simple recording that would capture what we sound like live. I knew it would be too hard to resist fixing mistakes and adding tons of guitars etc. if we went digital, so we eliminated the option by recording live on an old Teac reel to reel 4 track in the vacant shell of Hollywood hot spot ( and our employer for 6 years) Les Deux Cafes. Maroon 5 shot their CD photos there, so we started on the right track, right? Right!? RIGHT!!? Recording was pretty quick, 5 days, and two to four takes of each song. It took forever to go through all the takes and choose the possible tracks, but I finally narrowed it down and transferred them to Pro Tools for mixing. I added a few nice overdubs, an organ thingy, a second vocal and guitar here and there, but over all mixing was pretty simple, and I’m stoked on the outcome. Mastering soon. Check out a few of the jams on our jams page, also on our myspace. Our myspace, my myspace, your myspace. Ha.

UK shows recap
So my trip to London was an incredible adventure. I arrived at Heathrow Airport to no trains, thickening crowds, few taxi’s, bus lines hundreds of people long, and no phones. I was told there had been a bombing or something, but couldn’t get any real info until armored vehicles unloaded what looked like military w/ full body armor and machine guns. Then I was told the there had been a terrorist attack on the London tube system. It took about three hours to get into London, which was deserted, and another five or so to get to my accommodations. I played the Brixton Telegraph in Brixton, The Six String Bar in New Cross, and The Rhythm Factory in East London. Everyone from the Clash to Basement Jaxxx have rocked the Brixton. The Six String used to be called the Paradise, and was home to the likes of Art Brut, Bloc Party, and the whole art rock scene. The Libertines apparently got signed at The Rhythm factory, and Babyshambles have rocked that house as well. It was great to play great venues where everyone was so nice, and great, from promoters to the other bands to the crowds and the various staff members. Special extra thanks to Ceri from the 6 String, Alex from the  Telegraph, and Wayne from the Rhythm Factory. The enthusiasm, support, and high five-ness of everyone I met in London, even under the strain of terrorist bombing, assures that I will be back. Oh yes, I will be back. That, and I sold 100 CD’s in three shows, which rules.

HEATH!documentary/France
While on my UK trip, I was able to visit Thomas Levy and his wonderful wife Leslie Winer (www.lavachequilit.typepad.com) for a few days at their home outside Paris. Thomas is the French filmmaker who saw us play about four years ago, and approached us about making a documentary, which he’s been filming off and on since then. Right now he’s working on a documentary of/with the amazing Lee Hazlewood. Google him if you don’t know. We shot some more stuff, drank a lot of wine, hung with Leslie’s daughters, lit fireworks for Bastille day, and chilled Merchant Ivory style. Wicked. Leslie is an awesome musician; last year she played All Tomorrow’s Parties ( Vincent Gallo cur. ), and she invented trip hop. Google it.

no more Thistle
I have also decided it is time for me to exit Thistle Llc, and focus on HEATH! full time again. It is a difficult decision, but the right one for me to make. It was an incredible experience playing in New York, Rome and LA on a large scale, learning a new instrument, making new friends, hanging with old, and being in a full band environment, and I’ll miss everyone involved. Go see JT’s movie when it comes out! I will be finishing out our Red Devil residency in SF, and that’ll be that.

Hello. Quick up-date. I’m back from London, where I played three solo shows, it was great. I’m getting photos etc. in order for the site. The CD is very close to done, 19 tracks, it sounds good, I’m stoked. Join us on myspace or friendster, there are new mp3’s on our myspace page. Check out the new phpBB community board, sign on and discuss. Thistle will be playing 4 shows in S.F. in Sept at the Red Devil Lounge, so beware. More soon...

Hey-o. I hope everyone’s well. I got back from Italy last week, it was amazing! I was there with Thistle playing a great show and meeting great people and making great friends and having a great time. Check out the Thistle site in the near future for some photos and whatnot. We ( Thistle ) have a show next Wednesday the 9th of March at Café du Nord in S.F.. We go on probably at 9:30, but CHECK the du Nord web-site for exact times! I don’t know how much it is yet, but come see us rock the house, it’ll be great!
I’m supposed to put up some photos later today w/ my girl, so take a look and see if they’re updated. Hopefully you’ve noticed the changes in the web-site! It should be loading much faster, we’ve added a bunch of links on the…wait for it…links page, check ‘em out, great bands and such…we’ll be adding more as we go…still moving forward on the CD!! Dave is in fact moving to New Zealand!! So, sorry to be the bearer of...news..but he’s busy packing, so get in touch if you want to say goodbye! Dave says he will say his goodbyes from New Z. and keep me posted on goings on, and I’ll pass ‘em along. End of an era for me and Dave. Sort of, most likely we’ll play together again, but for stateside shows it’ll be me solo, or with a new drummer. We played many shows together over the last 3 or 4 years, and had many good times making music…he’s an amazing musician, a wonderful human, and I’m sad to see him go, but it’s a change in direction which will be good for us both, no matter what happens.
Today we’re also trying to add a community board if we have time…I think I covered everything…
My wonderful Dog Nigel died recently, he was the best ever, and made my family very happy…I am compiling photos of him for his own page on the site…soon I hope…I love dogs so much.

Hello there. My second update in a year, I better slow down. After recording last January, Dave and I weren’t sure if we were going to keep playing music together, and I wasn’t happy with the quality of the recordings so we took a formal break, broken by the occasional show. After some aimless months of domestic bliss for Dave and surfing for me, I wound up learning to play drums for this band Thistle LLC. They’re, I guess now I can say we’re, from San Francisco, and we’re great! Hit the link and listen to the music. We’re going to Europe Feb. 6th-23rd, and have various shows throughout California for the rest of Feb and March. ALSO! Look for us in episode #9 of HBO’s new series, Unscripted, on Sunday Feb, 20th. Our singer is on the show, and we made an appearance. See press for some photos.

In HEATH! news… Here is the link for the Vines video we were in a ways back…you can barely see us by the stage, me plaid shirt, Dave …uh shaved head. Super director Michel Gondry’s brother directed it. HA!…our song Don’t Go Away appears in an episode of a cartoon called The Boro Boys, I think it’s on in Germany…I want tfinish our CD in two months, that’s the goal, so we’ll see…check us/me out on Friendster and MySpace if you’re on there…sign up if you’re not…I need to update both, surprise…if anyone is interested in photography, there’s a book out now called Lost Angeles by an awesome photographer named Paul Jasmin, and you will find me in a few photos looking serious w/ a moustache, also many barely clad young men, but I’m fully clothed, I swear! Rhee may be moving to Australia, or New Zealand, I think it’s new Zealand…A community board and photo galleries are in the works. I am really flakey about this kind of stuff, and my girl who does the actual putting it on the web-site is really busy, so if there’s anyone out there who’s into taking some initiative and working with me to keep it more up to date, lemme know…

Welcome to the HEATH! website, new and improved. Slowly, but... slowly we'll have a bunch 'o changes happening, starting here. This is the update section where we'll be posting various... updates, about shows and whatever else isn't happening. Should be some new photos soon, as well as a new BIO! Yay! We finished recording our first full CD a few weeks ago, which is very exciting. Money must be saved for mixing, mastering and releasing and then it will be available @ my house everywhere. We just shot a video for the Vines new song, "Ride" so check MTV for the back of my head. Dave and I are both unemployed as the restaurant we worked at went under, so send us money. The owner's already pissed 'cause we're sorta late, but our time and our clothes gotta coordinate. Support Dennis Kucinich.

Love,
Stephen
